From the East

The name September comes from the Latin ‘septem’, meaning seven, since it was the seventh month of the Roman calendar, which began with March. September marks the beginning of autumn in the northern hemisphere (and the start of spring in the southern). Traditionally considered the month that marks transitions between seasons, it is often one of the most temperate weather-wise.

We welcome our newest Entered Apprentice Tramaine Ellison who received his degree on August 23rd. At our September Stated Meeting we will honor our cooks with a steak and potato dinner cooked by the officers. Reservations are Required! It will also be Hawaiian Shirt night so wear your best Hawaiian frock.

The Lodge will again meet the public at the Castro Valley Fall Festival on September 8th and 9th . We will be doing the ever-popular Child ID program. It is fun seeing the kids and their parents and talking a little about Masonry.

The Lodge picnic will be held at the Golden Gate Steamer’s facility in Tilden Park on 9/15. Bring the family and enjoy the miniature trains. This is a free event but we need to know how many to cook for so call the Jr. Warden to give him your headcount.

We will end the monthly events on September 27th with Past Masters’ Night. This is a Lodge member event only, so sorry no ladies. All members please come and cheer on the Master that was Worshipful when you received your degrees. Please let the Jr. Warden know if you will attend. Again, reservations are required for this free event!

Mr. Nickolas J. Nelson will receive his first degree on 9/13. Please attend the degree and welcome this new Brother.

Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternity. It is comprised of adult men (18+) of good character from every country, religion, race, age, income, education, and opinion. Its body of knowledge and system of ethics is based on the belief that each man has a responsibility to improve himself while being devoted to his family, his faith, his country, and his fraternity.
