From the East

By Brian Ross — Master

Brethren:

I am happy to announce the Lodge’s Hiram Award recipient for 2022 will be Brother Mark Finger. Mark is one of the most generous persons in our Lodge and it is a privilege to award him this honor. His Hiram Award Dinner will be on May 28th!

I recently watched a great documentary on Freemasonry that I highly recommend to you all. It is called "33 & Beyond, The Royal Art of Freemasonry" and can be found on Prime Video. Johnny Royal does a fair job informing those who are interested in what we are about, including the Scottish Rite, York Rite, and other orders. Many of the documentaries on Freemasonry disappoint as they are done by outsiders - this one is done by Masons (many from California) and gives us the fair depiction we deserve.

March continued to be a busy month. Thanks to Uncle Roy and the purveyors for the magnificent St. Patrick's Day meal. His corned beef and cabbage are simply the best! On March 12, 2022, I was privileged to present a $500.00 check to the Jobs Daughters at their booth at the Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade – thanks Brothers for approving the donation! The officers are busily preparing for our Second Degree Conferral for Brother Blaine Deaton on March 17, 2022. Please plan to attend as a sideliner. Being a sideliner is a true display of your dedication to the Lodge and our new candidates. Finally, to wrap up March 2022, by the time you read this we will have enjoyed our first game night (March 19, 2022) and our potluck (March 31, 2022). I will report on the success of both in my next article in May.

I hope to see you at our next Stated Meeting on April 7, 2022. I am happy to announce that I will be attending both a DeMolay (April 4, 2022) and a Rainbow meeting (April 5, 2022) to present them with a $500.00 donation each from the Lodge – again, thanks for approving the donations brothers!

Finally, and importantly, please note that, due to the rising costs of food, starting at our Stated Meeting on May 5, 2022, the cost of our Stated Meeting Dinner will increase from $10.00 to $15.00 per person, and the cost for two persons together will cost $25.00. Those who traditionally do not pay for their Stated Meeting Dinner will continue to eat without charge.

See you in the coming days!
