Welcome to the month of February, the shortest month of this year. The name February is derived from the Latin word "februa" which means to clean or purify. It was named after Februalia, the Roman festival of purification and atonement, which was a month-long event. Two notable events during the month of February include Valentine's Day on February 14th, and Presidents' Day on February 17th.

Another February event that I look forward to every year is Groundhog Day on February 2, 2025. Legend has it that if a groundhog sees its shadow on this day, there will be six more weeks of winter; if not, then Spring is just around the corner. All eyes will be on one famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, in Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to witness this annual event.

At this time, I would like to congratulate our two newest Entered Apprentices, Brother Ildjer Baron and Brother Gilbert Garcia Jr. on having received their First Degree in Masonry last month on January 23, 2025. It is anticipated that a 2nd degree will take place later this month.

Until next month, have a pleasant February.

Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternity. It is comprised of adult men (18+) of good character from every country, religion, race, age, income, education, and opinion. Its body of knowledge and system of ethics is based on the belief that each man has a responsibility to improve himself while being devoted to his family, his faith, his country, and his fraternity.
